AI Use Policy
How generative AI may and may not be used by authors, reviewers, and editors.
Authors
Generative AI tools may only be used to support language clarity — refining grammar, sentence structure, or readability. They must not be used to draft or generate the scientific text itself, analyse or manipulate research data, generate images, or shape a paper's findings or conclusions — that responsibility stays entirely with the authors. Any use, however limited, must be disclosed in a short AI Disclosure Statement (naming the tool and describing exactly how it was used), placed just before the reference list. AI tools can never be listed as an author, and authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy and originality of the whole submission.
Reviewers
Reviewers must not upload manuscripts or any part of their content to generative AI tools, as this may breach the confidentiality of unpublished work.
Editors
Editorial decisions are made by human editors. AI tools may assist with administrative tasks but are not used to make or substitute for editorial judgement.
